My name is Lucas Vanderkar and I am currently a Master's Student at Chico State University. I am pursuing my degree in Biological Sciences. I earned my B.S. in Biology from Sonoma State University in May 2021, with a concentration in Marine Biology. My research interests lie strongly in Ecology and animal behavior. Navigate to the "Research" tab to learn more about what I'm currently working on. In addition to my research and classes, I am a teaching associate for Biol 162 (Principles of Microbiology) at CSU Chico, as well as an Outdoor Educator at Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve (BCCER). I am an avid Scuba diver and I am pursuing more scuba certifications to become a divemaster. I enjoy taking photos and videos while diving which is highlighted more under "Scuba Diving". My end career goal is to conduct more impactful research, and pursue a faculty position within a University. My CV will be posted below if you're interested in seeing my professional experience. Outside of my professional life, I love to hike, take photos, play board games and video games, and catch up on the latest movies and TV shows.
